This fall, on October 30, 2012, Ubisoft will launch Assassin’s Creed III, taking the title’s latest hero, Ratohnhaké:ton, into the heart of the American Revolutionary War.
Coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Windows PC, and the Wii U, the company is calling the title, which is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and six other Ubisoft studios, the “most ambitious in company’s history” with over three years in development and “twice the production capacity of any previous Ubisoft game.”
“Assassin’s Creed III features the franchise’s most expansive setting so far, along with an exciting new hero and exponentially more gameplay,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft. “Whether you’re a longtime fan of Assassin’s Creed or if you’re new to the franchise, you’re going to be blown away by the scale and marvel of Assassin’s Creed III.”
Here’s the official description:

Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution in the late 18th century, Assassin’s Creed III introduces a new hero, Ratohnhaké:ton, of Native American and English heritage. Adopting the name Connor, he becomes the new voice for justice in the ancient war between the Assassins and Templars. Players become an Assassin in the war for liberty against ruthless tyranny in the most stylized and fluid combat experiences in the franchise to date. Assassin’s Creed III spans the Revolutionary War, taking gamers from the vibrant, untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington’s Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army.

Daily chart: video games. The gaming industry is now more than twice the size of the recorded-music industry, nearly a quarter more than the magazine business and about three-fifths the size of the film industry. It is growing faster than any other form of media.

The best part is that as a gamer I see this as our industry winning (even if I am a film fanatic too).

Get ready for the thug life to hit Los Angeles–or at least Rockstar Games’ version of the city–as the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V debuted online, showing off a little bit of what gamers can expect of the latest edition in the franchise.
Known for the franchise’s violence and controversial gameplay, Grand Theft Auto V is likely to incite further indignation among parents–despite the fact the games are all rated M for Mature–and rumours are already stirring about new features in the upcoming game.
So far nothing is confirmed, and there is no set release date, but Kotaku is reporting that there will likely be multiple playable characters. As the trailer shows, it also looks like players will be roaming outside of Los Angeles, Hollywood and the city center.
While some rumours persist that GTA V may not arrive until Sony and Microsoft launch the next versions of their PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the timing of this trailer would at least suggest to me we could see the game in the summer or fall of 2012 as many have predicted.

Epic Games have released the latest trailer for Gears of War 3, Dust to Dust, which reveals more of the devastation that seems headed our way in the third and final installment of the game.

The game comes out in stores exclusively for the Xbox 360 on September 20, 2011.

Marvel has gone 16-bit with their latest online game that puts you in the shoes of Captain America as he takes on Red Skull and his evil cohorts in a side-scrolling arcade-style adventure.
Battling the forces of Hydra, Captain America: Shield of Justice looks like it was plucked right from the early days of console gaming, and the retro sound effects and music are way too perfect for this easily addictive game.

Microsoft and Epic Games launched the Gears of War 3 beta for the media on Friday, and for anyone who picked up a copy of Bulletstorm Epic Edition today, and it’s worth saying that the game is seriously addictive.
While my skills behind the controller of your average shooter is probably best compared to a monkey’s driving abilities (read: amusing, but with frequently terrible results), I still love playing, and the beta for Gears of War 3 hits every mark you could hope for from the series, and for any serious multiplayer game.
Starting out, you get to pick what your preferences are for weapons and characters, choosing between three types of rifles and two different shotguns. As you progress though, you can unlock different characters, weapons, weapon skins, and medals, most of which can carry over to the full game, once it’s available.
