They must be targeting the 1% because though it’ll be available on VOD it’ll come at a cost of $60.
Exorbitant price aside, the theater chains are not going to be happy about this.
$60 to watch a movie on demand? Insane. Does it take an analyst to figure out this won’t sell? $30 maybe, but the problem is people still may not care enough aside from major releases. People flock to DVD and Blu-ray now because it’s cheaper and easier and not as big an investment in time as theatres. Introducing top-tier releases doesn’t sell to the majority of that market.
Only thing I see this accomplishing is giving “pirates” a chance to capture better quality videos of releases to introduce to torrents.
